Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that a source had this to say about Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins' chances for Week 3: "Pretty confident he will play, but not 100 [percent he will]." We'll have to watch Hopkins right up until game time. And his injury will add risk even if he is active for the game. Keep that in mind as you're making your lineup decisions. We'll update the situation if we get more details closer to kickoff.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Rams expect RB Darrell Henderson to be inactive for today's game against the Buccaneers. He's officially questionable with a rib injury. If Henderson is out, we should see Sony Michel operate as L.A.'s lead back. Tampa Bay presents arguably the league's worst rushing matchup, so don't expect a big fantasy day. But Michel will be in play for lineups in need.

The Giants are “optimistic” WR Kenny Golladay and TE Evan Engram will play Sunday against the Falcons, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Both players are questionable, so we’ll confirm their statuses Sunday morning. Each will still carry risk in your fantasy football lineup, but the matchup also presents significant upside. Check out latest Week 3 rankings before finalizing your lineups.

Saints WR Kenny Stills has been promoted to the active roster. The 29-year-old was signed to New Orleans' practice squad less than 2 weeks ago but has plenty of experience in the offense after spending his first 2 NFL seasons with the Saints. We'll see how much action he gets vs. the Patriots on Sunday, but Stills obviously isn't a Week 3 fantasy option.

Bucs WR Antonio Brown (COVID) didn't travel with the team to Los Angeles and is out for Sunday's game against the Rams, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. When Brown missed last year's NFC Championship, Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson split #3 WR duties. Miller ran a route on 53% of pass plays and saw 3 targets; Johnson registered a 32% route rate and 2 targets. Unless we get more clarity on the situation, neither guy can be trusted in fantasy lineups. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski should pick up extra volume with Brown out.

The 49ers promoted RB Kerryon Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster. He's now eligible to play against the Packers on Sunday night. Johnson joined the team 2 weeks ago. We'll see how big a role he plays in Week 3 -- if he plays at all. But he shouldn't be in fantasy lineups. San Francisco placed RB JaMycal Hasty (ankle) on IR in a corresponding roster move.

Cowboys S Donovan Wilson (groin) is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Eagles. That leaves Jayron Kearse to start in his place again. There's some upside to Kearse for deeper IDP leagues.

The Dolphins are placing QB Tua Tagovailoa on IR for his fractured ribs. That means he'll miss at least the next 3 contests. The team reportedly hopes to get the QB back for Week 6. Until then, it's Jacoby Brissett ... which means it's also time to queue up fantasy defenses playing against Miami. That's the Raiders this week, then the Colts and Buccaneers. If Tagovailoa makes it back for Week 6, he'd get a nice pair of matchups with Jacksonville and then Atlanta.

Baltimore on Friday placed 4 front-7 players on the COVID list, meaning they'll all miss at least Sunday's game in Detroit. The players are DTs Brandon Williams and Justin Madubuike, and EDGE defenders Justin Houston and Jaylon Ferguson. None makes a huge fantasy difference for either IDP usage or the Baltimore team defense's upside, but their absences certainly soften the matchup for Detroit's offense. Losing Brandon Williams, in particular, weakens the Ravens' run D -- a help for Lions RBs D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

3:50pm EDT 9/25/21

The Steelers have downgraded OLB T.J. Watt to out for Sunday's game against the Bengals. That leaves the team without 2 of its top 3 edge players, as Alex Highsmith had already been ruled out. Melvin Ingram hits Sunday as a sneaky IDP option for sack-friendly leagues. He does come with a low fantasy-scoring floor, however.

Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (rib) is not listed on the final injury report. So he'll play against the Eagles on Monday night but will do so with a cracked rib. That obviously adds risk to his fantasy profile. But Cooper's ceiling makes him tough to bench.

Eagles TE Zach Ertz has been activated from the COVID list. So he should play vs. the Cowboys on Monday night. That's bad news for TE Dallas Goedert, who's run just 2 more pass routes than Ertz through 2 games.

Niners CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee), DE Arik Armstead (adductor) and DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) are questionable for Sunday night's game against the Packers. Armstead and Kinlaw played through questionable tags in Week 2. Moseley has yet to play this season.

Buccaneers EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul is out for Sunday's game against the Rams. He's listed with both hand and shoulder injuries, but the shoulder is the bigger issue. We'll see how long he remains out.

Jets DE John Franklin-Myers is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Broncos with a calf injury. He progressed from no practice Wednesday to a limited Thursday and then full participation Friday. We’ll check his status Sunday afternoon.

The Falcons have officially ruled lead CB A.J. Terrell out for Week 3 with his concussion.

Lions EDGE Trey Flowers (shoulder, knee), DL Michael Brockers (shoulder) and EDGE Romeo Okwara (shoulder) are all questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Flowers missed practice all week and probably shouldn't be in IDP lineups even if he plays. Okwara and Brockers each put in limited practices all week. We'll update the status on all 3 Sunday morning. Detroit has already ruled out LB Jamie Collins after confirming that they're trying to trade the veteran. That should clear the way for rookie LB Derrick Barnes to get his 1st start, though we'd like to see the size of his role before considering him for IDP lineups.

Bills CB Levi Wallace is questionable for Sunday's game against Washington. He's listed with a knee issue but sandwiched a limited Thursday practice between 2 full workouts this week. We'll update Wallace's status Sunday morning.

Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers with a quad strain. Ward didn't show up on the injury report until Friday, when he missed practice entirely. So the injury must have occurred near the end of Thursday's workout. Ward sits too low in the DB rankings to be worth trusting through an injury question even if active.

Patriots S Adrian Phillips is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, but it's listed as "not injury related." The team (of course) has provided no further details, but Phillips missed practice Thursday and Friday for what must be some sort of personal issue. Phillips climbed from 61% playing time in Week 1 to 75% last Sunday. He still opened Week 3 at the bottom of our DB rankings, though.
