Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

11:32am EST 12/12/22

The Titans placed LB David Long Jr. (hamstring) on IR ahead of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. That knocks him out at least through Week 17. LB Monty Rice started in Long's plays against Jacksonville and logged 12 tackles. Expect to see him in Tuesday's IDP waiver-wire article.

Vikings LB Jordan Hicks left Sunday's loss to the Lions with a toe injury and did not return. He'll have a Monday MRI to determine the severity, HC Kevin O'Connell told reporters afterward. Brian Asamok checked in 3rd among Vikings non-edge LBs against the Lions but didn't pick up all the playing time that Hicks lost. We'll see about the replacement plan if Hicks misses further game action.

Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs hurt his right thumb in Sunday's win over the Texans. He left briefly but returned and played 91% of defensive snaps for the game. Diggs told reporters afterward that he doesn't expect to miss further game time with the injury.

Browns LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah hurt his left leg late in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. He's getting an MRI today. "I'll be OK," the LB told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer after the game -- adding "we'll see" after mentioning the MRI.

Bengals WR Tyler Boyd "could miss a week or 2" with his dislocated finger, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "Healing, pain tolerance will dictate when he returns," Pelissero adds. We'll track Boyd's rehab, but fantasy owners should plan on being without him for at least Week 15.

Panthers WR D.J. Moore came away from Sunday's win over the Seahawks with an ankle injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Moore will have an MRI today to determine the severity. Moore played all but 3 of Carolina's offensive snaps at Seattle, so we didn't notice the injury initially. We'll see about his status for a Week 15 home date with Pittsburgh, which has ranked among the league's best scoring matchups for WRs. Although Shi Smith and Laviska Shenault led Panthers WRs in production against the Seahawks, Terrace Marshall remained the only one close to Moore in playing time. They ran 25 and 29 pass routes, respectively, compared with 11 for Smith and 8 for Shenault, according to Pro Football Focus.

Niners RB Christian McCaffrey ran for 119 yards and a TD on 14 carries in Sunday's lopsided win over the Buccaneers. He added 2 catches for 34 yards and another TD on just 3 targets. Jordan Mason operated as the #2 RB one again, carrying 11 times for 56 yards. San Francisco gets Seattle's soft run defense on Thursday night in Week 15.

Niners QB Brock Purdy threw for 185 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's beatdown of the Buccaneers. He found WR Brandon Aiyuk and RB Christian McCaffrey for scores, each from 27+ yards out. Purdy added a 2-yard scramble for a TD as well. We wouldn't go chasing Purdy on waivers this week, but it looks like he at least won't kill the fantasy upside for San Francisco pass-catchers in upcoming meetings with the Seahawks, Commanders and Raiders.

With RBs Kenneth Walker III and DeeJay Dallas inactive, RB Travis Homer led the Seahawks with 9 carries and 26 yards in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. Tony Jones Jr. claimed the only other RB carry for the team and trailed Homer 3-2 in targets, despite the early Sunday report from ESPN's Adam Schefter that Jones would start. We'll see whether Walker or Dallas can make it back for Thursday's clash with the 49ers, which won't be a great spot even for a healthy RB. Godwin Igwebuike didn't play an offensive snap against the Panthers.

Seahawks QB Geno Smith struggled through most of Sunday's loss to the Panthers, including a pair of INTs. He nearly tossed a 3rd, but CB Jaycee Horn narrowly missed getting a 2nd foot down in bounds. Smith did wind up with a solid 264 yards and 3 TDs passing, the last coming with just 16 seconds to go and his team down 13. Seattle's top 3 WRs all scored, with Marquise Goodwin posting the top line: 5-95-1 on 6 targets. D.K. Metcalf went for 5-71-1 on a team-high 10 targets. Tyler Lockett caught 5 balls for 60 yards and a TD, marking his 6th straight game with a score. Seattle hosts a tough 49ers defense on Thursday night.

Panthers RB D'Onta Foreman carried 21 times for 74 yards in Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He watched RBs Chuba Hubbard and Raheem Blackshear claim the team's 2 rushing scores, though. Carolina went run-heavy in a game that saw them score the 1st 17 points and never trail. Hubbard finished with a. 14-74-1 rushing line and led the backfield with 3 catches for 25 yards on 3 targets. Blackshear logged 4 carries for 32 yards and 1 catch for 17 yards (on 1 target). Foreman still led the group in playing time but loses some floor if half the work is going elsewhere. Unfortunately for the Panthers, no remaining matchup is nearly as good for RB scoring as Seattle was.

10:14pm EST 12/11/22

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill hurt his left ankle at the end of the 1st half in tonight's game against the Chargers. He is questionable to return.

Update: Hill did return for the 1st possession of the 2nd half.

The Dolphins have ruled RB Jeff Wilson Jr. out for the rest of tonight's game against the Chargers because of a hip injury. That leaves RB Raheem Mostert to lead the backfield. We'll see about Wilson's status heading into next Saturday night's visit to Buffalo.

Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy led the Broncos in every receiving category Sunday, but 1 made his fantasy line special. Jeudy caught 8 of 9 targets for 73 yards and 3 TDs in the loss to the Chiefs, snagging 2 scoring tosses from QB Russell Wilson and another from QB Brett Rypien after Wilson left with a concussion. The TDs obviously made for Jeudy's biggest fantasy line of the year, producing his 2nd PPR total of 20+ points. (The last came in Week 1.) TE Greg Dulcich ranked 2nd with 8 targets but caught only 3 for 42 yards. WR Kendall Hinton checked in 3rd with 6 targets and 2nd with 5 catches (for 38 yards).

Before a concussion knocked him out of Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, Broncos QB Russell Wilson threw for 247 yards and 3 TDs. That marked the 1st time this year he had thrown more than 2 TD passes and just the 2nd time he had tallied more than 1. Wilson reached 20 fantasy points for just the 2nd time all year, adding 57 yards on the ground. We'll see how soon he can make it back from the concussion, but the injury and string of terrible fantasy outings before Sunday makes him tough to pay any attention to in 1-QB fantasy football formats.

Chiefs WR JuJu Smith-Schuster drew a team-high 11 targets in Sunday's win over the Broncos, catching 9 of them for 74 yards and a TD. Those were his 2nd-largest totals of the year in both targets and receptions. Smith-Schuster carried this upside into the week after reclaiming the route lead among K.C. receivers last week. TE Travis Kelce tied for 2nd on the team with 9 targets, catching 4 for 71 yards.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes threw for 352 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's win over the Broncos. He also tossed 3 INTs in a game that almost slipped away from K.C. The positive side of that matters a lot more to fantasy football managers than the turnovers do. It was just his 2nd game this season with multiple INTs, but his 7th game among the past 8 with at least 320 yards passing.

Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon caught a season-high 7 passes in Sunday's win over the Broncos. He turned those into 112 yards and 2 TDs. The big strike came when QB Patrick Mahomes made an underhanded flip to evade defenders that turned into a 56-yard score. McKinnon added a 10-yard score later in the 2nd quarter. He sat tied with JuJu Smith-Schuster for 2nd on the team in targets at halftime and finished tied with Travis Kelce for 2nd (with 9). It marked the 4th time in the past 6 games that McKinnon drew 6+ looks and the 2nd straight game he reached 10 opportunities. (McKinnon added 6 carries for 22 yards against Denver.) Isiah Pacheco added 70 yards on 13 carries and 3-23 receiving on 3 targets vs. the Broncos. The Chiefs get a high-ceiling rushing matchup with the Texans in Week 15.

Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught a team-leading 6 passes for 45 yards and a TD on 6 targets in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. TE Austin Hooper and WR Robert Woods tied for 2nd on the team with 5 receptions apiece, in a game that saw QB Ryan Tannehill throw or 254 yards. WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine drew a team-high 8 targets but caught just 3. He did snag Tannehill's other TD.

Titans RB Derrick Henry rebounded from 4 straight down weeks for 121 yards and a TD on 17 carries in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. Henry had averaged just 2.8 yards per rush across the previous 4 games, all against middling-to-poor run defenses. This performance will make it much easier to play Henry with confidence in high-upside matchups against the Chargers and Texans the next 2 weeks. Houston, in particular, has allowed Henry to rush for more than 210 yards in 4 consecutive meetings -- including Week 8 of this season.
